I love home schooling with a passion! It is true that you do better at something you enjoy. Since we have begun home schooling, I have learned so much about myself, my children and a lot of "what not to do's".
I wanted to share a really cool thing that we do to help build our kid's confidence while learning new things. Everyone is not going to be an expert in everything, but everyone CAN be an expert at something. Each month each child decides what they would like to be an expert (similar to a unit study).
This is how we help that happen:
1) Go to the library and check out unlimited books and refs on the TOPIC or PERSON.
2) We give them time to Google and do on-line investigation
of that TOPIC or PERSON.
3) We do experiments or trivia regarding the topic.
4) We include this topic in art, science and history
5) After they feel they have done all their investigation, they complete a report and a list of 25 facts regarding that TOPIC or PERSON.
6) They are then ready to do their presentation to the family as an expert on the topic!
